NOAA Solar Radiation Project
SORD participates in the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) Global Monitoring Division (GMD) Surface Radiation Budget Network (SURFRAD) that monitors components of solar radiation across the United States. The SURFRAD program monitors both visible and the UVB parts of the solar energy spectrum. The SORD SURFRAD site became fully operational in July 1995 and has achieved high data retrieval of excellent quality. The SORD SURFRAD site is located at our Desert Rock Meteorological Observatory (pictures) located in the southern part of the Nevada Test Site.
