.Forecast Summary...A large, flat high-pressure ridge continues to keep Nevada warm and dry. Surface winds are light and terrain-driven with an underlying northerly component. A sharp change occurs before the weekend as a closed low pressure system moves in quickly from the Pacific Northwest. This feature will enable strong surface winds near advisory level over the weekend and early next week. Southwesterly upper-level flow will steal moisture from Pacific Hurricane Rachel making the environment favorable for rain showers, especially over the mesas. The greatest accumulations are expected to stay east of the site at this time.
